GCNet to provide Valuation Assurance Services - 9 June 2010
The Ghana Community Network Services Limited (GCNet) has been given due authorization to deploy the Valuation Module in the Ghana Customs Management System (GCMS) starting from 1st June 2010 to assist the Customs Excise & Preventive Service (CEPS) validate valuation opinions
provided by the destination Inspection Companies (DICs) to CEPS.

The new initiative is expected to help enhance the mobilization of tax revenue by CEPS.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Information signed by James Agyenim-Boateng, Deputy Minister for Information was indicated that the deployment of the module is for an initial period of three months.
GCNet was selected to provide the service because, they are “already in the system and have the Valuation Module, which is one of the modules within the GCMS for the enhancement of revenue collection by CEPS.”
“Again, GCNet will not be providing this service at any extra cost to the State, unlike other service providers that would have to be paid over half a million Ghana Cedis monthly for the service”, the statement noted.
As part of the implementation modalities, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning was directed by the Office of the President to organize a meeting of all interested parties to ensure the smooth implementation of the new service with effect from 1st June 2010.
